Women-only law enforcement operation in honour of Women’s Month

The MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mohita Latchminarain is leading a women-only law enforcement operation in honour of Women’s Month at Steve Tshwete Local Municipality today. 

The operation will check compliance by public transport operators in terms of the National Land Transport Transition Act (NLTTA.)

The MEC will also visit various taxi ranks in Middelburg and interact with commuters.

”We request public transport operators to work together with the government in ensuring that Covid-19 regulations are adhered to by commuters and drivers so that the spread of the pandemic is avoided,” said the department’s spokesperson, Bongani Dlamini.

The executive mayor of Nkangala District and Steve Tshwete Local Municipalities are expected to join the operation.
