A man involved in an armed robbery in Siyabuswa last Sunday, February 20, was arrested.
He was one suspect who robbed police officers’ firearms off, a rifle and two pistols, and ammunition at gunpoint.
Five suspects attacked the officers while on duty. The robbery occurred at a fuel station in Kameel Rivier B. According to the police, when the men were done, they made off with a police vehicle. Two members escaped with no injuries.

“The suspects proceeded to Waterval, where they fired several shots and hijacked a Mercedes Benz. Police pursued the suspects and found them at Leeufontein near Siyabuswa. A shootout ensued between the police and the suspects. The suspects drove off with their vehicle.”
They launched a manhunt for the suspects. The Provincial Commissioner sanctioned a 72-Hour Activation Plan. They arrested one suspect in Tembisa, Gauteng, on Monday, February 21.

During the arrest, police recovered one pistol and a revolver. The police added they will not rule out the possibility of linking the suspect to other crimes committed. His case is now before the court.
