Mduduzi Mngadi will spend 15 years behind bars after he was sentenced by the The Mpumalanga Division of the High Court of South Africa in Delmas on Wednesday, March 26 for a Cash-In-Transit robbery.
Mngadi (41) was arrested following an incident that took place on February 6, 2023 when Fidelity security officers were collecting cash at a chain store in Leslie.
According to reports, while one of the officers was loading cash into the truck, he was accosted by four armed men.
“They robbed him of his service pistol and a bag full of cash and fled the scene. The security guard managed to run to the driver’s side of their truck for another firearm. He fired shots towards the getaway vehicle. The driver was fataly wounded while the other four fled the scene on foot in different directions. Local police were activated, and two of the robbers were arrested. The robbed cash was recovered together with the stolen pistol,” reads a statement from the Hawks.

Mngadi and Bhakaniya Mthembu wo were both arrested appeared before the Evander Regional Court on several occasions while in custody.
The matter was then transferred to the High Court where Mngadi pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The matter was postponed to 3 December, 2027 for Mthembu’s trial.
