Couple robbed and shot dead

BARBERTON – A couple was robbed and murdered in the early hours on Monday morning. The police have launched a manhunt for four suspects involved in the gruesome murder.

According to police, suspects entered the yard belonging to a certain family where they held the owner hostage and tied him with some clothing items. They then broke into the backroom where the couple was residing as tenants, robbed them of their belongings, stole keys of the couple’s liquor outlet, shot and killed them before fleeing the scene. It was said the suspects proceeded to the couple’s liquor business where they searched for cash.

“The police as well as the paramedics were notified about the incident and upon arrival, the two, who are believed to be in their mid-thirties, were certified dead at the scene. The police opened a case with two counts of murder, house robbery and business burglary hence the manhunt. Police took in two men for questioning with regards to the incident and the public is urged to allow space for the members to conduct their investigation,” read a statement from the police.
