Eight school children die in crash

Eight learners have died after a minibus overturned on D267 between Mayflower and Dundonald around 15:00pm today.

Seve perished at the scene while the eighth person passed on the way to hospital. 10 other passengers sustained moderate to serious injuries and they are currently receiving treatment at Embhuleni Hospital in Elukwatini. It is not yet clear what caused the crash, but the probe is underway.

“Motorists must use the road with due diligence to spare lives of innocent. What is also is that the deceased are all learners in whose hands our future lies,” said MEC Vusi Shongwe. He is also extending his condolences to the bereaved families and wishes those injured a speedy recovery.
