Emalahleni Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Linah Malatjie and her husband died in a car crash in the early hours of this morning.

The African National Congress Acting Provincial Secretary, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali confirmed that it was a head-on collision resulting in the couple succumbing to their injuries in hospital. She said she will not divulge a lot of details in order to allow the families to process the news.
Ntshalintshali described Malatjie as a pillar, hard worker and a giver who had the best interests of young people at heart.

“She tried her best to take care of those in need and we are saddened by her passing. She was recently part of a group that fought against gender based-violence and the kidnapping of children. We have lost one of the most committed leaders and prayer warriors in the province,” said Ntshalintshali.
