OSHOEK – A family of six children raised by a single mother may be forced to endure the cold winter weather due to a collapsing mud house they live under.
Snenhlanhla Ntshalintshali (22) has pleaded with the public to assist her family with a proper shelter after her mother’s mud house started dilapidating during last year’s heavy rains.
Ntshalintshali is the eldest of six children. She lives with her siblings and her mother who depends on social grant to fend for them. She has been living in the mud house with her family for as long as she could remember.
All was well until late last year when heavy rains accompanied by winds ravaged the roof and walls of the building they call home. Currently, some windows are broken and the wall of one of the rooms has completely collapsed.

“It is so painful and heartbreaking to see my mother trying her best to contain the situation but it keeps getting worse. She does not work because she also has to cater for my younger brother who is living with disabilities,” she said.
Ntshalintshali says she feels most for her disabled brother who requires extra care but has to endure their current condition.
“It is now winter and this house can no longer keep us warm. It’s very painful to watch my disabled brother living like this. Our biggest fear is that one day it will rain and the house will fall on us,” she added.
Ntshalintshali has resorted to social media to request for assistance to anyone who may remedy their situation. “I am pleading with anyone who may have any kind of assistance to help me and my family,” she concluded.
