Farmer shoots two men dead at Bampoen Farm outside Mkhondo

PIET RETIEF – Two men were shot dead by a farmer at Bampoen Farm just outside Mkhondo today.

The pair held a peaceful march against the abuse of farm dwellers. It is alleged that the same farmer allegedly poisoned people’s cattle in the area.

“MEC condemns the incident in the strongest possible terms saying that it was high time that farm owners regardless of their skin colour, respect the rights of all farming community members,” said the Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson, Mmoeti Mmusi.

MEC Vusi Shongwe, adds that the community members need each other and that farm dwellers are equally entitled to making their voices heard when they are aggrieved. 

He also sent condolences to the bereaved families. He also promised to follow the case to its finality in order to ensure that justice is served.
