Former CPF Chairperson Kevin Pillay passes on

MBOMBELA – Provincial Community Police Forum (CPF) Board Chairperson, Kevin Pillay passed away at Mediclinic on Wednesday after a short illness.

Pillay held the position for more than 10 years until recently after the new board was elected. He was also a General Secretary for the National Community Policing Coordinating Forum (NCPCF).

MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe sends his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mr Kevin Pillay. He described as a soldier who dedicated his time to the fight against crime.

He said Pillay was at the forefront in the fight against crime, and he was very passionate about community policing.

“He was one of the people who pioneered payment of stipends to CFP members and Volunteers. He dedicated most of his time working for the communities in the fight against crime. The department has benefitted immensely to his efforts in enhancing the relationship between the police and the community during his era as a Chairperson of the board,” he said.

The MEC adds that as the province prepares to hold a Crime Prevention Summit, Pillay would have been handy to assist with paving the way forward in the fight against crime.
