In an effort to prioritise quality health care in communities, MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini officially unveiled new state-of-the-art health facility in Driekoppies last Friday.
The MEC was joined by the Executive Mayor of the Nkomazi Local Municipality, Phindile Magagula, along with various stakeholders.
According to the department, this new health facility will provide healthcare services to over 19,000 residents in Driekoppies and surrounding areas, including Boschfontein and Schuzendal villages.
Moreover, patients will have access to five modern consulting rooms, with the clinic operating eight hours daily and five days weekly to ensure adequate healthcare services.
In her address, Manzini stated that the upgraded clinic demonstrates the department’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services to local communities.
“Our goal is to expand healthcare services and primary healthcare is where we are focusing right now. As you can see, we are opening clinics across the province to improve the health and well-being of all residents,” she said.

Previously, the community encountered difficulties accessing healthcare services due to the former clinic’s restricted capacity and geographical limitations.
A community member, Sibusiso Nonyana expressed gratitude, saying that the department has done an excellent job in building a big clinic for the community members, who had to walk miles to access health care.
“Many of us had to walk long distances to consult at other nearby clinics due to the lack of space at the former clinic. We are grateful the Department of Health stepped in to provide a larger facility, meeting the needs of our expanding population,” he said.
The MEC noted that the facility will offer a full package of healthcare services that will meet the needs of the community. Manzini encouraged the community to prioritise their health and utilise available healthcare services, while emphasising the importance of maintaining the facility’s infrastructure.
