High court orders Provincial Commissioner’s reinstatement

The Pretoria High Court has set aside the suspension of Lt-Gen Dapheny Semakaleng Manamela and ordered for reinstatement yesterday.

According to police spokesperson, Brig Athlenda Mathe said the court’s judgment was being attended to. According to 013News, the found that her suspension by National Commissioner Fanie Masemola was vague and the suspension procedure was unfair.

Manemela was suspended in February for allegedly unduly receiving declared gifts. This includes vouchers worth thousands of rand, a TV stand, couches and household appliances. Several Mpumalanga police stations allegedly donated the gifts to Manamela. This is a developing story.
