Infant and three others die in car crash

A one-month-old infant died with three others following a head-on collision involving two vehicles on the R39 near Lothair yesterday.

According to a report, Lothair police attended to the accident scene. They alleged that a blue VW Polo TSI came from the Ermelo direction towards Lothair when it collided with a white Audi A3 Sedan.

Further than that, it is reported that three passengers of the Polo lost their lives on the scene.

“The two occupants from the Audi sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Polo and two other occupants also sustained serious injuries. They were all taken to hospital for medical treatment,” read the statement.

A case of culpable homicide was opened and is being investigated by the Lothair Police. The cause of the accident is unclear at this stage.
