Land Bank gives back to the community on Mandela Day

KANYAMAZANE – The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land-Bank) marked Mandela Day by giving back to the community in a meaningful way. The land and agricultural institution spent its 67 minutes of service launching a vegetable garden initiative for the Good Morning Kidz Zone centre in Kanyamazane on Friday, July 18.

The local Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) has been serving the less fortunate in the community, making a positive impact. As such, Land-Bank provincial manager Cylist Sithole, said the new vegetable garden will enable the NPO to harvest fresh produce, ensuring a steady food supply to serve those in need.

“We are delighted and excited to be part of this community-driven initiative. By supporting the Good Morning Kidz Zone centre, we aim to provide food security, enabling them to feed more people in the community. We believe the garden will foster community involvement and we encourage the community to assist in its maintenance, to ensure a steady food supply,” said Sithole. In addition to launching the garden, Land-bank donated materials to support the garden’s ongoing maintenance and productivity.

The founder of the Good Morning Kidz Zone centre, Christina Ngomane, expressed gratitude for Land-Bank’s support, saying, “This vegetable garden is a game-changer for us. It will enable us to provide more nutritious meals to the children and the vulnerable community members we serve. We are thankful for Land bank’s generosity and commitment to giving back to the community.”
