Man appears in court for mine manager’s murder

Xolani Sidney Simelane (38) appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court today following a fatal shooting last week.

This is after Zanele Zwane (27), a mine manager was shot dead as she was about to leave for work on Thursday, January 25.

According to police reports, upon arrival at the scene, a white bakkie was found idling while the deceased was motionless on the driver’s seat. She reportedly had bullet wounds on the upper body and was certified dead at the scene.

The accused was arrested on Saturday facing a murder charge. After making mambos first appearance, the case was postponed to February 5 for a formal bail application. He remains in custody.
