Man arrested after being found with child pornography

A man was arrested by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in eMalahleni after he was found with child pornographic material.

He appeared in the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court yesterday, 28 September. The suspect was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to the police, the FCS Unit received information from members of the community about a suspect who was storing pornographic material in his place of residence.

“Members followed up on the information and probed the matter. Upon arrival on Monday, 27 September at his place, police searched the premises and found some hard drives, laptops as and a tablet. About 9000 child pornography, including videos, was confiscated. While proceeding with the search, a revolver was discovered and the suspect failed to produce a valid license for,” read the statement.

The Magistrate granted him a bail of R1000 and his case was postponed to 28 October.
