Party lays charges against minister

MBOMBELA – A case of fraud, corruption and mismanagement of funds was opened against Higher Education Minister, Blade Nzimande on Tuesday afternoon.

The case was opened at the Nelspruit Police Station by Economic Freedom Fighter’s Mandla Shikwambana who is also a Member of Parliament and Member of the Portfolio Committee in Higher Education, Science and Technology.

This is following a leaked audio that allegedly exposes corrupt activities between the Department of Higher Education and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

The South African Communist Party (SACP), Nzimande and the NSFAS’ chairperson, Ernest Khoza are accused of being part of kickback scheme related to contracts at the fund.

The Democratic Alliance also laid charges formally against Ndzimande at the Cape Town Central Police Station. Minsiter Blade Nzimande responded to the report as follows:
