EMALAHLENI- Dumisane Maluleka (32) will spend the next 12 years behind bars following two arrests for cloning petrol cards.
After his release on bail on 31 May, 2023, used a counterfeit card to purchase fuel. He was re- arrested by the Ogies SAPS detectives. On 19 July 2023, Maluleka was remanded in custody for bail application. The case docket was then referred to the Hawks Middelburg based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further handling.

Three bail application attempts were made by Maluleka, but the Hawks successfully opposed all three bail applications. Maluleka was in custody until the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court handed down the judgement on Monday, 25 August 2025. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for each of the two fraud charges and two and three year imprisonment for each of the cyber crime charges. The court ruled that one of the five year sentences will be served concurrently with the other three year sentence.
He is expected to serve 12 years behind bars.
