KABOKWENI – Mduduzi Kehla Lubisi, one of the accused in the Pienaar mass shooting that resulted in nine fatalities, made a brief appearance at the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court for his bail hearing on Wednesday, July 30.
However, the case was postponed to August 8 for a formal bail hearing due to the unavailability of Lubisi’s legal representative yesterday.
State prosecutor, Belinda Williamson informed the court of the postponement, stating that both Lubisi and his co-accused are expected to appear in court on the scheduled date.

It would be recalled that the duo faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and defeating the ends of justice in connection with the mass shooting that occurred at Levisa Tavern in Pienaar on January 11. Six victims died at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The motive behind the shooting still remains unknown. Both Lubisi and Nkosi will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
