EMBALENHLE – A security guard was arrested for stealing medicine at Langverwact Clinic yesterday.
This is after the police went to search the suspect’s house and found various items of medicine and medical supplies. The department officials were called to the scene to verify whether the items found belong to the department.

Spokesperson for the department, Dumisani Malamule confirmed the suspect confessed to stealing the medical supplies. “She said she stole them for her personal use from Embalenhle CHC and Langverwact Clinic. Forensics took everything as evidence and she was arrested,” said Malamule.

The Health MEC, Sasekani Manzini said patients always complain about the shortage of medicine in health facilities. “Little did we know it is sometimes because of theft. We commend the SAPS for the successful arrest,” said MEC Manzini. She also sternly warned others who are committing the same crime that such acts compromise service delivery. The suspect will appear in court today.
