Senior officials and suspended Human Settlements HOD due to appear at Pretoria Magistrate’s Court for corruption

A senior National Prosecuting Authority official, a senior officer in the Hawks and suspended Head of Department for Human Settlements in Mpumalanga are arrested for corruption.

The trio is due to appear at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court following their arrest on corruption to withdraw a case of fraud and contravention of the Immigration Act.

According to police, the allegations point at a Lieutenant Colonel who was paid an amount of R28 000 of R100 000 to assist in getting the case withdrawn against the accused. The matter was then reported to Serious Corruption Investigation at the Head Office and an operation was conducted.

“In the process, a senior member in the NPA in Mpumalanga also approached the complainant with a similar request of having the case withdrawn against the accused. The NPA official was given R5 000 and an 18-year-old bottle of Glenfiddich scotch whiskey.

All three have been arrested and are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court today charges of corruption.

Zimbabwean-born Kebone Masange, had trouble with the law last year when it was discovered that he misrepresented himself at Home Affairs when and was in contravention of the Immigrations Act for having three identity documents.
