Taylor Nsimbini remembered as community builder and unifying force

Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Clau-Clau Community Hall this week to pay their last respects to the late Meshack “Taylor” Nsimbini, Chief Whip of the City of Mbombela, who passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Tributes poured in from community leaders, African National Congress (ANC) officials, members of opposition parties, and community residents, remembering him as a dedicated community builder and unifying force.Nsimbini, a highly respected figure in Mpumalanga, served in the City of Mbombela Local Municipality for over 18 years.

He was a committed ANC member, known for maintaining discipline and coordinating the party’s Caucus within the City of Mbombela’s Council.

Speaking at the memorial service, ANC Ehlanzeni Region Chairperson, Jackie Macie paid tribute to the departed leader saying:

“We are here not to mourn, but celebrate his life. Indeed, he was a soldier until the end. He is one of the comrades whom we feel it is not going to be easy to replace him. He was a man of his word, a man of action, and a significant contributor to our community’s development.

“We pray that the ANC will find strength to continue his work and that his family will find comfort in their loss.”
Nsimbini’s passing has left a void in the community, with many remembering his tireless efforts to serve and uplift those around him.

City of Mbombela’s Executive Mayor, Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko honoured his memory by saying Ntsimbini’s death is a great loss. “We have lost a community builder who went beyond the call of duty. He was a unifier, even in Council.”

Meanwhile, the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) in the province visited Nsimbini’s home to offer condolences to his family prior to the memorial service. ANC Mpumalanga Deputy Secretary, Nompumelelo Hlophe emphasised that his passing would have a notable impact on the party’s operations.

Family spokesperson, David Ndlovu expressed the family’s grief stating that his passing has left a huge gap in the family.

“We had high hopes for him as he was dedicated to serving the community and driving change. We’re struggling to come to terms with his loss, and we pray for strength to accept this new reality.”

Nsimbini will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with a funeral service starting at 07h00 at the Clau Clau Sports field.
