A crash occurred between a sedan and an articulated truck on R23 between Balfour and Greylingstad near Sprucewell Crossings on Tuesday.
The three who died at the scene include the driver of the sedan and two passengers. The truck driver was unharmed.

According to an eyewitness, the sedan crashed on the rear-end of the truck, overturned and rolled over the sedan. The jaws of life had to be used to remove the bodies of the deceased from the wreckage. The road was closed for several hours because the emergency personnel were working on clearing the scene.
The investigation into the crash is underway. Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Gabisile Shabalala reminded motorists to use the road with great caution so that tragedies such as this one are avoided.
