ACORNHOEK- The case against the woman accused of the murder of her 83-year-old mother will continue today for a formal bail application.
The accused, Portia Moeng (40), made a brief appearance before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on 11 April 2025.
This follows the appearance of two other suspects in the same court yesterday, believed to be involved in the murder case.
Moeng is facing charges of murder and defeating the administration of justice. It is alleged that she is the mastermind behind the murder of her mother.
It is reported that Emmie Maonye, the victim, was strangled to death before the house in which she was in was set on fire, last month.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, confirmed that Moeng is the third suspect to be arrested in relation to this case and that investigations are ongoing.

Moeng will be back in court with her co-accused, Lebo Magopane (26) who is a niece to Moeng and Thapelo Khoza (25), who is known as a pastor.
