ANC expels Nkomazi mayor from the party

The provincial ANC has expelled Nkomazi Local Municipality’s executive mayor, Johan Mkhatshwa.

It also expelled the Speaker and five other councillors. They also reported that it will send a letter to the IEC informing them of their decision to remove these officials from the governance of the municipality.

Mkhatshwa and his co-accused have been under the spotlight. This follows when members of the opposition allegedly nominated him. The Council elected the executive council for the municipality after the local government elections last year. He was purportedly not on the ANC list of candidates eligible to be councillors in the new administration.

Mkhatshwa has since been undergoing disciplinary hearings conducted by the provincial ANC, the final verdict of expulsion.
