MBOMBELA – The 2025/26 provincial budget that was tabled on Tuesday is set from the base of improved economic growth prospects compared to the previous year.
This includes power supply, a lower inflation rate, significant job creation, among others. This is according to MEC for Finance, Bonakele Majuba who outlined the Provincial Priorities during the Post-Budget Business Stakeholders’ Breakfast held at the Emnotweni Arena this morning.
“Driving inclusive economic growth, reducing poverty, addressing the high cost of living and building an ethical developmental state, are some of our priorities. The purpose of this session is to encourage and garner support in order to be able to work with communities and stakeholders,” he said.

When delivering his keynote address, Premier Mandla Ndlovu, reflected on the budget presented. He stated that it focusses on allocating resources and implementing policies that directly benefit the poor and address poverty, inequality and unemployment, whilst aiming to improve their living standards.
“As government, we have long acknowledged that government alone cannot meet the demands of our social and economic infrastructure.
“To help close the gap between available public resources and the growing infrastructure need, government’s economic recovery plan includes immediate measures to boost investor confidence and longer-term reforms that promote sustained economic growth. Higher and more effective infrastructure spending is central to our plan,” he said.
