Chayaza Secondary School Administration block burnt this morning

MKHUHLU – The Department of Education is shocked by the burning of an Administration block at Chayaza Secondary School.
The school administration block was apparently burnt by a group of males who were seen entering the school in the early hours of this morning by the security guards.
It is alleged that these men went straight to the Admin block, broke the windows and threw explosives through the windows, resulting in the burning down of the entire Administration block.
The Department has opened a case of arson with the police and is requesting anyone with information that can assist in apprehending the perpetrators of this act of arson to contact the nearest police station.
“We are making a clarion call to members of the community to come forward with information that can assist the police in the arrest of these arsonists who are engaged in thwarting the development of our learners and communities,” said MEC Bonakele Majuba.
The Department will send officials to the school on Monday to assess the damage incurred and to advise on the course of action to be undertaken going forward.
The Department condemns this criminal act of arson with the contempt it deserves.
