MBOMBELA – With the new academic year underway, the City of Mbombela (CoM) Executive Mayor, Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko kicked off her annual back-to-school campaign with a visit to Tfolinhlanhla Primary School in the Northern Region of the City on Tuesday, February 4.
In recognition of the learners’ needs, the Executive Mayor has generously donated several essential items to support their educational endeavors.
This initiative marks the first of many outreach programs planned for the current academic year, underscoring her commitment to enhancing learners’ well-being and ensuring access to vital resources, including dignitary packs and school uniforms for local schools.

During her visit, Mayor Makushe-Mazibuko emphasised the importance of education, stating: “Education is the key to unlocking your dreams and creating a better future. Stay focused, respect your teachers, and commit to your goals. Your books are your stepping stones to success.”
She also encouraged learners to focus on building a strong foundation for their future. The annual back-to-school campaign also serves as an opportunity for the City of Mbombela to monitor the progress of teaching and learning, strengthen ties with the school management team and governing body, and strive for excellence in creating a conducive environment where every learner can feel safe and succeed.
“This initiative aims to ensure that no child is excluded from education due to a lack of basic resources, reaffirming the city’s commitment to education and its role in shaping a brighter future for the youth in the community,” she added during an interview with Mpumalanga Mirror.
As the City of Mbombela continues to prioritize education, Mayor Makushe-Mazibuko remains steadfast in her dedication to fostering a nurturing and supportive educational environment for every school learner in the city.
