Traffic officer hit by delivery vehicle

The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) lost yet another traffic law enforcement officer yesterday between Emalahleni and Kriel.

According to reports, Jeanette Mlangeni was on duty when she was hit by a Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV).

“It is when she noticed a driver who was allegedly overtaking dangerously. She then attempted to stop the vehicle. The same vehicle she was attempting to stop hit her,” said the department’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi.

The Acting MEC for Community Safety Security and Liaison, Speedy Mashilo, sends condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

“All law enforcement officers on the road are not on there to make motorist’s lives difficult, but to save lives,” said Mashilo. The investigation into the crash is already underway.
