Two passengers die in Plaston Road accident

Two people lost their lives while 10 others sustained serious to minor injuries in a taxi accident on Plaston Road near White River yesterday.

The taxi that was transporting passengers from Kabokweni overturned and rolled several times. Emergency services responded and transported passengers to nearby hospitals.

Meanwhile, another accident took place in the R40, near Casteel outside Bushbuckridge. A tour bus that was ferrying learners to a school excursion collided with a light delivery vehicle, which resulted in one fatality.

MEC for Public Works Roads and Transport Thulasizwe Thomo has made call to road users to respect road rules. “It has been noted that when taxis or bus accident happen, a lot of people lose their lives while others get seriously injured. Therefore, I would like to urge all road users, particularly public transport operators, to drive cautiously and respect all the rules of the road.”

MEC Thomo extended his deepest condolences to all the families that lost their loved ones and further wished those in hospitals a speedy recovery.
