ANC Mpumalanga recalls Mandla Msibi

MBOMBELA- The African National Congress has announced that Mandla Msibi is no longer the Provincial Treasurer.

Msibi is replaced by Sibongile Makushe- Mazibuko and has also been recalled as a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) and will be replaced by Provincial Chairperson of COSATU, Life Monina.

According to a statement from the party, a report on the disciplinary proceedings against Msibi who was suspended by the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) on April 9, 2024, was received during a Special Provincial Executive Commitee (PEC) meeting. He appealed the verdict with the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) a few days later.

“The NDC sat on the 16th of July 2024 and resolved to dismiss the appeal and uphold the verdict of the PDC. To refresh the memory of our members and supporters that verdict was a three years suspension of membership with two of those years suspended making his suspension of membership effectively a year. This verdict has implications on his status as a member of the provincial legislature and treasurer of the province,” reads the statement.

It further states that the Constitution of the ANC prescribes that members suspended do not enjoy the rights of ANC members as guaranteed by Rule 5, which include to be elected and represent the ANC in any forum.
