MIDDELBURG – A man is behind bars following the killing of a 10-year-old boy on Mhluzi on Sunday, August 14.

Police say the boy was shot deaf after a soccer tournament around 18:00 on the day. “Reports reveal that there were few participants left at the sports ground when the incident took place. A gun shot was heard, and they saw the deceased falling down. Unfortunately, he died on the scene and the motive is still unknown,” said provincial police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala.

A murder case was opened, and they detained the suspect after handing himself over to the local police station on Friday, August 19. He is expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 22, facing a murder charge.
